Back in the 1940s, then-owner Hank Frey found himself in a high-stakes craps game with local rancher Gene Wade. With one lucky roll, Wade walked away with more than just cash—he won the entire restaurant. Rather than selling it off or changing what worked, Wade doubled down on tradition, making sure Cattlemen’s stayed true to its roots while improving its already famous steaks.
More than 100 years later, the restaurant is still family-owned and operating from the same location, making it the oldest continuously running restaurant in Oklahoma. While the city has grown and changed around it, Cattlemen’s has remained a place where history, hospitality, and great food come together.
